A citrus fruit of Japanese/Korean origin, Yuzus are a hybrid species - a cross between mandarins and ichang papedas (a Chinese fruit with lemon-scented flowers). They're tart like lemons and bitter like grapefruits but with a surprising floral/herbal note. Earlier this year, we got our mitts on some delciously fragrant organic Yuzus and we couldn't wait to give them a juniper bath! We've doubled down on the delicousness by first steeping the zest in our Aussie dry gin The Journey, then distilling the skins to extract all the frgrant oils. Only a very small release this year, but hopefully next year we can get more fruit and have developed a following!
TASTING NOTES & COCKTAIL IDEAS Bright and fresh, full of zingy citrus and marmalade-bitter undertones our Yuzu gin shines with a just a splash of soda or light/dry tonic. Cocktail wise, play the KISS method and spritz it up with some prosecco or swap out for dry gin (for an extra citrus kick) in a Tom Collins or Southside!
